Valparaiso: Who Needs A Canvas When You Have Walls?

Hello there. This is Ewan at the helm for a post about the outstanding street art here in Valparaiso. We’d heard from a few people before arriving about the abundance of graffiti and I was excited. As you may know I’ve only written two previous posts for the blog and they were both on the same subject; graffiti in Toronto and then in Bogota. Well Valparaiso definitely did not disappoint. This colourful city obviously embraces it’s talented artists. I’ve been snapping shots like a madman, here are some of my favourites:

We found another piece by Stink Fish! I loved his stuff in Bogota and found one in Lima too.

      • When we were in Bogota we were floored at all the street art – we had heard a lot of the scary side of Bogota in advance of going, but never about how pretty it was! It’s been a real adventure and it is neat to see artists pop up in different countries down here!

      • Haha Shaun! Hopefully you don’t dream about him. (We are at a hostel that has two goats…I hope WE don’t wake up in the middle of the night to one wearing a suit!).

    2. Very cool! Street art doesn’t seem to be quite as prevalent in Asia (with a few major exceptions, like George Town, Malaysia) so it’s always great to see photos like this that remind us that the world really is one big canvas ripe for artistic expression. Love how colorful Valparaiso is; it must be like wandering through an open-air modern art museum!

      • I loved your post about George Town – I KNOW Ewan will be all about that place when we go!

It was so lovely to wander the streets, especially as altitude wasn’t bringing us down like Bogota did!

    3. These are fantastic! Have you thought of publishing some of your travel pics? Four months in and you already have the makings of a pretty cool art book 😉
