Canadian Thanksgiving just passed and we had the opportunity to head up to Ottawa for some family time. Not only did we get to see the Ottawa arm of my family – but my parents and brother also flew in from Calgary. While it hadn’t been that long since we’d seen them out west, it was a good fill up and nice to have a mini-family reunion too. Also…turkey!

Being a parent, and also on mat leave, has definitely given me the perspective and time to chew on things. I have so many things to be thankful for, and I find that now I feel more gratitude than before. I love our little man and, not unlike the Grinch, my heart grew three sizes the day he was born. I had no idea that I could also love my partner in crime more than I did but that happened.

My love and respect for our parents, and the rest of our family, has gone through the roof. We have been so fortunate to see our families a handful of times since CZ came on the scene. Not to mention the ability to ‘see’ each other regularly through Facetime & Skype. While it’s not quite the same as living in the same city I know we are very lucky in the grand scheme of things.

Anyway, I guess this is all to say that I turn into a Pollyanna whenever there is sad and depressing news going on; I count my blessings (family, friends, freedoms) and dig into some turkey!
